Meet dozens of Bracknell employers under one roof
Published: 25 Sep 2013 09:30
People will have the chance to speak to potential employers and even bag jobs on the day at the Bracknell Forest Careers Event.
More than 85 exhibitors have signed up to the event on Thursday, October 10, including 3M, British Gas, Enterprise Rent a Car, KPMG and Romans Group.
The Army, Royal Navy and Marines will also have stands, along with education providers including colleges and universities.
The event is primarily funded by Bracknell Forest Council, and Cllr Marc Brunel-Walker, executive member for economic development and regeneration, said it is a “fantastic opportunity for parents and students” to look at their different career options.
Year 11 pupils from the borough’s secondary schools will visit the Capitol Building, on the Southern Industrial Area, in Bracknell, earlier in the day, in closed sessions.
The event is then open to the general public between 3.30pm and 7.30pm.
Cllr Brunel-Walker said: “It will help Year 11 students make decisions about their future. However this isn’t just for students – it is a tremendous opportunity for all our residents to come and talk to more than 85 exhibitors.
“The feedback I had from residents and from exhibitors from the last year’s event was overwhelmingly positive and I was impressed by the way our students engaged with the companies and colleagues who took part.
“So if you are looking for a job, come down and visit the event - you can sign up for free sessions to update and polish CVs or to practise your interview technique.
“I hope that as many of our residents as possible will take advantage of the vast pool of information, ideas, advice that will be available.”
The event has been organised by the Bracknell Forest Partnership - made up of the council, police, the fire service and the NHS - plus Learning to Work, which aims to link education and business, and sponsors.
The Midweek’s parent company, Berkshire Media Group, has developed the event’s website.
Simon Williams, editor of the Midweek, said: “It is always a fantastic event and this year will be even better than ever. Whether you are a young person looking at further education or a jobseeker, this could be a life-changing opportunity to find something at which you can excel.”
