Fears grow for Finchampstead cat

Horatio was rescued in March by the Bracknell and Wokingham Districts Branch of Cats Protection, after a member of the public contacted it about a cat with an eye hanging out its socket.
After successful public appeals, firstly for public donations for surgery and veterinary care, and then for new owners, he was rehomed with a family in Kiln Ride, Finchampstead, on June 9.
However, just two weeks later, he went missing from his new home.
Since then, there have been numerous, exhaustive searches and posters put up around the area, and despite some sightings, Horatio – named after Nelson, the one-eyed British naval hero – has not been found.
Cats Protection has now launched a fresh appeal for information.
Lynne Pothecary, publicity officer for the Bracknell and Wokingham Districts branch of said: “We are obviously concerned that Horatio’s disability, of having only one eye, will mean that he will not survive by hunting alone, and he needs to be found before the weather starts to worsen.
“Please can we ask for your help to look for him in that area. If he is spotted contact the branch immediately, so that welfare officers can be sent out to trap him.”
Horatio is a medium-sized black cat, with one eye, and it is thought that he might be in woodland surrounding Kiln Ride. Anyone sighting Horatio should call Cats Protection on 0845 371 4212.
Lines are open Mondays to Saturdays, between 9am-5pm only, or email the branch coordinator on firstname.lastname@example.org
