Share your Bandstand memories below or at www.facebook.com/bracknellnews THE Bracknell Bandstand has long been a landmark for charity fundraisers, live music and bric-a-brac sales - but its time will come to an end next month.

Developers will be demolishing the long-standing structure as the regeneration of the town centre continues.

Bracknell Town Council announced yesterday that the last day for hire will be on July 15.

Readers took to our Facebook page yesterday to speak about their memories of the Bandstand.

Debbie Ferrari posted: "We need a campaign - ' Save Bracknell's Bandstand ' - if there is something we should keep, I think that is definitely it, lots of us grew up with the Bandstand!!"

Mary Gilchrist said the Bandstand should be included in the new plans and wrote: "I agree one of the best things that could have been left, as well as the clock fountain and little green area near it.

"I have a horrible feeling the new centre is going to be another big mistake! We need new but with a heart."

Julie Mampaeij said the loss is a "shame" and added: "The Bandstand has held many good attractions over the years. Will we have anything fun anymore in the town centre?"

But Daemon Farry posted: "Lose it . Give them no excuse to hold up the regeneration again."

If you had planned to use the bandstand to promote your organisation or charity, please contact Bracknell Town Council on 01344 420079 for information on other locations you can use instead - such as Bracknell Market.
