UPDATE: Sickness bug forces Binfield School closure
A BINFIELD school will be closed until Monday amid fears of an outbreak of norovirus.
Approximately 100 children and nine staff are reported to be suffering from sickness at Binfield Primary School.
A notice on the school's website said: "The Health Protection Agency have advised that the school undergoes a specialist clean which will take several days to complete.
"We are sorry for the inconvenience but we hope you appreciate that this is in order to limit the further spread of this nasty bug."
A letter has also been sent to parents and guardians which said: "If you take your child to see a GP and they request a faecal (stool) sample please show them this letter and ask that they put the following on the form:
'Norovirus and bacterial pathogen screen in relation to an outbreak at Binfield CE Primary School'."
An information sheet giving information about Norovirus has also been sent.
A parents evening due to be held this evening has been postponed.
The school says it hopes to re-open on Monday March 25 but will only be able to confirm this once all the cleaning has been completed.
