The Peel Centre: U-turn over Bracknell parking fees
See also:
PARKING bosses have made a U-turn over evening charges at the Peel Centre in Bracknell, after being put under pressure by businesses and drivers.
Last month motorists threatened to boycott facilities like Odeon, Hollywood Bowl and Point Bingo as a result of "extortionate" charges of up to £10 for a four-hour stay.
This was amid claims that users of these facilities were able to use the car park for free before a new CCTV-controlled system was introduced in January.
But motorists will now be able to park for free if they arrive after 6pm.

What do you think of the change? If you were deterred because of the new parking system, will you now use the Peel Centre again?

Report commentWho are these parking bosses and when were they given the right under British law to impose 'penalty charges'. These companies rely on people being scared by a piece of paper that they try to make look official and paying these spurious charges. Best advice seems to be to ignore them.

Report commentThe law has changed, you can no longer ignore them, the owner of a vehicle is not responsible for its parking even on private property.
On the upside in the same legislation there were changes that deal with the advert vehicles being dumped at the roadside and wheel clamps are now illegal,

Report commentHaving any system which discourages shoppers from spending too long spending money in local shops is simply barmy.
