Bracknell charity saved while council tax freeze gets go ahead
BRACKNELL Forest councillors agreed on the 2013/14 budget last night (Wednesday) - in turn freezing council tax and saving BFVA from closure.
In the full council meeting yesterday, the Tory-lead council voted in favour of the budget for the coming year, deciding that the authority's share of the tax will not change for 2013/14.
This means that the annual bill for a band D property will stay at £1,093.95.
But households will fork out £5 more a year per Band D property for the fire authority's share of the tax.
Councillors also agreed to give a £60,000 one-off grant to Bracknell Forest Voluntary Action, to help it become more sustainable throughout 2013/14.
Earlier this month the charity's chief executive, Martin Gilman, said BFVA would go under without the grant.
