Alleged Bracknell tortoise trader released on bail
A 36-year-old man has been charged by police for allegedly trading illegally in protected tortoises.
The Bracknell man was arrested on January 9 and yesterday (24/2) was charged.
The defendant has been charged with prohibited sale of a protected species (Spur thighed tortoise); prohibited offering for sale of a protected species (Spur thighed tortoise); and three counts of unlawful use of a protected species for commercial gain (Spur thighed and/or Hermanns tortoises).
The offences are alleged to have taken place between September 26, 2011 and November 25, 2012.
Mr Martin has been released on bail and is due to appear at Slough Magistrates Court on March 11.
