BRACKNELL'S council leader has been shortlisted for an award which recognises the achievements of individual councillors.
Cllr Paul Bettison is among 63 outstanding councillors throughout the country selected to proceed to the final of the 2013 Cllr Achievement Awards, taking place on Monday, February 25.
He has been nominated in the Judges' Special Award category alongside councillors from Staffordshire, Essex, Plymouth and Dagenham.
"I have no idea why I've been nominated!" he chuckled. "But it's wonderful, it's great to be shortlisted. Whether or not I win, the fact that somebody's noticed enough for me to be on the shortlist is a great privilege and honour."
Cllr Bettison has worked on the regeneration of Bracknell for more than 12 years and mentors other council leaders across the country.
A panel of judges, including councillors and local government experts, will determine the overall winners of the 11 awards up for grabs at this year's ceremony and will announce the results on the night.
