FIREFIGHTERS freed a driver from his lorry after it is believed he had a heart attack at the wheel.
Crews from Bracknell and Wokingham rushed to Downmill Road at 4.30pm today to assist paramedics in helping the unconscious man from his vehicle.
Gill Hodgetts, head of communications at South Central Ambulance Service, said the 45-year-old was rushed to Royal Berkshire Hospital in critical condition and added: "There was an issue about paramedics working on him all the way to the hospital, which indicates that he was pretty unwell."
A crew member from Wokingham fire station said he thought the man had experienced a heart attack.
No other vehicles were involved.
