Baa-rilliant fair: Students Shaquille Mannus and Ashley Charles, both 17, with lamb Phyllis.

A CHRISTMAS fair raising money towards a students' trip to Kenya has been hailed as "very successful".

More than 300 staff, students and members of the public got in the festive spirit at Bracknell and Wokingham College, in Church Road, Bracknell.

A petting farm with a donkey, 12-day-old lambs and a pair of kids proved popular and the animals were also involved in the nativity play.

One of the organisers, Jo Girling, said: "It went really well. I was wandering round Bracknell dressed as Peppa Pig in the morning to try to drum up support.

"It was very busy and at one point we had to shut the tombola because we ran out of prizes. We had to rush up the road to get some more.

"It was a really nice day and I'm very grateful to everyone who came along. It was quite overwhelming how much support there was."

Beauty students ran a nail painting stall and there were seven other stands selling games, sweets, arts and crafts as well as much more.

Debbie Wallace, senior support and welfare officer at the college, said: "The Christmas fair was a great success with a community feel.

"Everyone loved the Holly Spring School Junior choir who sang their hearts out."

About 20 students will visit Kenya next April to learn and develop awareness of different cultures.
