BRACKNELL Forest is deploying extra sweepers to clear autumn leaves.

As the season changes the council will put on additional road cleaning for six weeks until December, which includes a new vacuum cleaner-style machine.

Most of the leaves are collected by normal mechanical street sweeping services, but with the blanket of leaves that is falling, the council is working with contractor Ringway to get leaves cleared as soon as possible.

The council asks people to take extra care when walking or driving on wet leafy services and not to sweep leaves into the road.

Residents can compost the leaves, use the garden waste service or find out about making leaf mould at www.recyclenow.com/home_composting/making_compost/leafmould.html

Anyone with safety concerns about wet leaves can contact the council's customer services team on www.bracknell-forest.gov.uk or by calling 01344 352000.
