TODDLERS showed they are not too young to join in with the Olympic sprit by taking part in their own sporting challenges.

On Thursday last week, two nurseries from the Complete Childcare chain had a Games theme to their regular Great Little Movers fitness sessions run by trainer Gary Sherwood.

Ten youngsters aged two-four tried hurdling at Kingsclere Nursery in Forest Road, Wokingham.

Nursery nurse Rachel Toland said: "They have really enjoyed it and are very proud that they have got medals.

"It's good for them to do it because they get an understanding of what's going on and they get to participate in activities they see older people doing."

Mr Sherwood then ran classes for 30 children aged three-five at Merrydale Day Nursery in London Road, Bracknell.

Deputy manager Anneliese Mostert said: "The children were very excited.

"I think it's really great for them to get outside as much as possible and get some physical exercise."

Over the past few weeks, children at both nurseries have been learning about the Olympics and trying different sports.
