FAMILY and friends of a little girl who has leukaemia jumped on board to help raise funds at a fundraising group's launch.

Excited youngsters enjoyed steam and diesel train rides as well as face painting, glitter tattoos and a raffle at Crowthorne's Pinewood Miniature Railway on Sunday, raising £1,500 for Matilda's Team.

Hanworth mum-of-two Roxanne Shand hopes to offer young cancer sufferers the chance to design and order personalised hats and, with the help of friends and colleagues, she is fundraising to raise enough cash to register formally as a charity.

Her daughter Matilda, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in September, was the inspiration for the charity.

The fashion-conscious four-year-old has enjoyed wearing hats sent to her by her uncle and made for her by her mum.

Mrs Shand, 30, said: "I had no idea how much we would raise so to have that was just amazing - it really was so generous of everybody, particularly of Pinewood Railway Society."
