HUNDREDS of people lined the streets to cheer on the Olympic Torch as it passed through Ascot and Bracknell this afternoon.

Jockey Frankie Dettori did his famous flying dismount with torch in hand after riding with it around Ascot Racecourse. Olympian Denise Lewis was also a torchbearer at the racecourse, which was filled with enthusiastic spectators.

The torch then returned to the High Street, before being driven to Bracknell, where people had lined London Road by up to five deep to see it carried down to Millenium Way then Skimped Hill Lane.

Among those who turned out to see history in the making was Sonia Robson, from Warfield, who said: "There was a fantastic atmosphere - it was nice to be here with all the children because they were so excited."

The torch has now been driven to Reading for an evening celebration at the Madejski Stadium.
