ORGANISERS gearing up for a popular charity cycle challenge are hoping it will be the most successful yet.

The Rotary Club of Bracknell - which is celebrating its 50th birthday this year - is encouraging cyclists of all ages and abilities to sign up for the Three Counties Cycle Ride on Sunday, June 10.

There have been more than 500 entries for the fundraiser so far, raising cash for Rotary charities including Have A Heart, Macmillan Cancer Support, Thames Hospicecare, Bracknell Parish Church Roof Appeal and the Bracknell Rotary Club Charity Fund.

Allan Emmett, from the Rotary club, which won a Pride of Bracknell Award last month for its community work, said: "Entries are coming in well. However, we want as many as possible because the more entries there are, the more sponsorship and then the more we can give to charities.

"It is our club's 50th year, so we would like to make it our most successful yet!"

Cyclists can choose from three routes: 50 miles for experienced riders, an intermediate route of 33 miles and a short route of 15 miles for families.

All routes start and finish at Bracknell's Garth Hill College in Bull Lane where there will be free parking available. The entry fee on or before Thursday is 13 for adults aged 16 plus and is 6 for under 16s, including a free T-shirt. On the day, it is 16 for adults and still 6 for under 16s, which does not include a T-shirt. The deadline for online entries is Friday, June 8.
