GARDENERS and allotment holders are invited to enter an annual town contest.

Bracknell Town Your Gardens competition is open to residents, community groups, businesses and schools within the parish of Bracknell Town.

There are six categories to enter: front garden, community garden, commercial premises, school garden, allotment and tallest sunflower.

This year, Bracknell Town Council is organising the competition. Mary Harris, town clerk and chairman of Bracknell in Bloom said: "Your Gardens is not only a fun horticultural competition to enter, it is an important part of Bracknell in Bloom.

"Bracknell in Bloom is judged by the Royal Horticultural Society regional judges in July. We always ensure the judges are taken to see Your Gardens entrants on their visit.

"Last year the tour went through Priestwood and the judges stopped off at Robert Petford's Your Gardens best-kept allotment for 2010.

"They also visited Ploughlands Community Gardens, joint winners of the community garden category." Entrance to the competition is free and category winners will be invited to attend an awards ceremony in October.
