Young artists' work on show
Published: 2 May 2012 09:30
The show, called Inspiration, has opened at the Community Gallery at South Hill Park arts centre and will be on display until June 17.
More than 20 young people created the paintings and other works during art courses at the centre.
Community artist in resident Chantal Addley, the course tutor, said: "I'm just so proud of them. They really have done some great work."
The centre runs the three-hour art classes on Saturdays, alternating between sessions for seven-11-year-olds and young people aged 12 plus.
Young people are encouraged to look at the work of other artists for inspiration then can choose what work they would like to create.
Ms Addley said: "It's about helping them to rediscover the joy of art."
New classes will start this month; call the centre on 01344 484123 or see www.southhillpark.org.uk
The exhibition is on view for free during the opening hours of the centre in Ringmead, Birch Hill.
