A CAROUSEL and coconut shy are among the spring fair that has come to Bracknell - in a display of miniature models in a shop window.

The fairground scene, featuring hundreds of different handmade pieces, has been created by Bracknell and District Dolls' House Club and is in the window of an empty shop in Princess Square shopping centre formerly occupied by Past Times.

Club member Anne Walden-Mills said: "We've had so much interest in it, even when we were just setting it up.

"It's raising awareness of the club and to help keep the windows not looking vacant."

The models in the display are made to one-twelfth of their real size. It was set up on Tuesday last week and is due to be there until at least Tuesday next week. Mrs Walden-Mills said the group approached Bracknell Regeneration Partnership about using the window.

The group has also had displays in Bracknell and Binfield Libraries. It has been going for 15 years and has about 20 members.

Mrs Walden-Mills said: "We just enjoy it. It's a lovely hobby in the fact that it's not huge, you don't need a lathe or lots of photography equipment.

"It's a hobby you can keep in a shoebox if you want to."

The club meets at 7.30pm on the last Thursday of the month at the Coopers Hill Youth and Community Centre in Crowthorne Road North, Bracknell. If you are interested in joining, contact secretary Jane Oswald on 0118 978 1315.
