A WOODLAND area where a water pipeline tunnelling machine was based has now been restored.

Part of Swinley Forest near its entrance from Bog Lane in The Warren has had its chain link fence replaced and has been replanted with honeysuckle and silver birch trees by South East Water.

Barrie Williams, South East Water construction manager, said: "Once our reinstatement works were under way, as a final gesture we offered to take part in a litter pick to rid the area of the rubbish." The water company used the area when it was working on the final section underneath the Reading-Waterloo railway line of a 17m pipeline replacement project, which means an extra 23 million litres of water is being pumped into the regional distribution system for Berkshire, Surrey and north Hampshire.

Trevor Kensall, Bracknell Forest councillor for Harmans Water, who joined in the litter pick, said: "I would like to thank our local residents for their patience and understanding while this pipeline was under construction in this part of Swinley Forest and I am pleased that this project has now been completed.

"This is a beautiful area, popular with dog walkers and it is great to see that this area can once again be enjoyed by our residents."
