FITNESS fanatics will soon be able to get their energy fix as a sports centre's repairs gather pace.
Edgbarrow Sports Centre was closed on December 23 after a fire ripped through the boiler room. Repair work has been ongoing ever since and contractors have now confirmed that it will re-open in April.
Until the work is complete, the arrangement for all Edgbarrow gym users will be to continue to use the fitness centre at Sandhurst Sports Centre on a casual basis, while all annual and direct debits members can use certain facilities at Bracknell Leisure Centre instead.
Cllr Iain McCracken, executive member for leisure, said: "I apologise to residents and regular customers for any inconvenience this closure may cause.
"Unfortunately, the fire made the building unsafe to use and so, until it is safe to use again, alternative arrangements will be in place. I'd like to thank everyone for their continued patience while this work is ongoing and look forward to seeing the centre back up and running in the spring."
Staff at the Grant Road centre have been contacting people who had booked children's parties, but if anyone wishes to speak to staff about a planned party, they should call Sandhurst Sports Centre on 01344 778836. Sandhurst Sports Centre is open from 5.30-11pm Monday to Friday and from 9.30am to 6.30pm at weekends.
