NEIGHBOURS are being asked to have their say on community issues to help pick policing priorities.

Last year the Neighbourhood Survey flagged up a lack of parking which lead to Bracknell Forest Council pledging £100,000 to provide new parking bays and slam the breaks on congestion.

This year's survey compiled by Bracknell Forest Council, Thames Valley Police and various community groups, will be delivered to every home in the borough by Wednesday, September 2. People can also take part in open forum meetings hosted by Neighbourhood Action Groups (NAGs) to help set priorities for next year.

Cllr Iain McCracken, executive member for public protection, said: "Residents can come along to talk about the things that affect them and their families in their neighbourhood with their NAG representatives, local councillors, local police and council officers. This is a great opportunity to get involved in changing things at a grass roots level and make Bracknell Forest an even better place to live and work.

"The findings of the survey will help to set the neighbourhood priorities for the coming year. We would urge as many people as possible to make their voices heard."

People can also complete the survey online by visiting www.bracknell-forest.gov.uk/neighbourhood survey and questionnaires which are completed and returned before the October 31 deadline will be included in a free prize draw with prizes including tickets to Coral Reef, Downshire Golf Complex and South Hill Park.

Acting Chief Inspector Mark Harling, who heads Bracknell Forest's police team, said: "The NAG forums and the neighbourhood survey play an important role in planning and organising work and activities that help address local concerns, feeding information back to the police, council service departments and other organisations and help influence the services provided.

"They are also key in reporting back to their local communities the work that has been done."

The first neighbourhood forum is at Bullbrook Community Centre on Monday, September 14, 7.30pm.
