TWO big hitters on the music scene have combined to create a new internet jazz radio station for a global audience.
Radio Bracknell Forest (RBF), Berkshire's newest community internet music radio station, has linked up with Crowthorne-based jazz promoter and radio production company, UK Jazz Now, to launch the station.
RBF, founded in February 2009 by marketing and public relations consultant John Hicks, broadcasts a range of music and talk shows 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
UK Jazz Now, established by jazz performer and broadcaster Brian Soundy, produces jazz radio shows and promotes live blues and jazz music events across the south of England.
The demand for quality jazz programming and live events encouraged the two to create UK Jazz Radio, which can be found by logging onto www.ukjazznow.com
Mr Soundy said: "We told a few people within the jazz community, some artists and fellow radio presenters and asked them for their reaction to our pilot shows: Jazz Guitars, Voices of Jazz, London Jazz, Smooth Jazz, New Jazz and Modern Jazz. They seemed to have told their friends and fellow musicians who have all listened in and given us positive feedback. It seems that viral marketing has reached the jazz world!"
