FIREFIGHTERS spent around three hours putting out a forest fire this afternoon (Wednesday).

The blaze, near a railway embankment in Swinley Forest, was close to Woodlands Ride in South Ascot.

A crew from Bracknell Fire Station were called out at 1.10pm and worked with their colleagues from Ascot"s retained station to put out the blaze, before returning to base at around 4.30pm

Watch manager Dom McKeown said that the cause of the blaze was unknown and added: 'We also needed the brigade"s water bowser to come over from Pangbourne because of the access problems we had.'
