MARTIAL arts enthusiasts will be kicking and punching for 24 hours this weekend in aid of Sebastian"s Action Trust.

Silwood Park Karate, based at Great Hollands Primary School, is embarking on a 24-hour Karate Marathon, when their adult students will train from 7am tomorrow (Saturday) until 7am on Sunday.

The club"s juniors (aged 4 years old and upwards) will also be doing their bit, by training for up to 12 hours and enjoying lots of exciting karate-related activities including lessons from sensei Glen Wright, sixth Dan, the club"s chief instructor.

Silwood is urging Bracknell News readers to help support the fundraising effort by going along to a self-defence lesson from 5.30pm to 7pm tomorrow at Great Hollands Primary School. This will be completely free of charge but a donation to Sebastian"s Action Trust would be appreciated.

To date the club has raised over £10,000 for local and national charities, and is poised to beat its previous record, having raised almost £2500 so far.

Gillian Rose, instructor at Silwood Park Karate, said: 'This will be the most physically demanding challenge we"ve attempted with our adults each training for 24 hours.

'We"ve been inundated with support from local businesses as well as our family and friends and are looking forward to helping Sebastian"s Action Trust.' Donations can be made online at www.justgiving.com/silwoodparkkarate
