PROCEEDS from a village May fair have been donated to Guide Dogs.

Winkfield Row's May Day Fair, which took place on May 7, raised an impressive £2,000 for the charity, which representatives handed over to the charity last Wednesday (6).

The money will go towards sponsoring a new Guide Dog puppy, which will be placed with a trainer for the first 12 months before it can continue its training with the charity.

Accepting the cheque on behalf of Guide Dogs' East Berkshire Fundraising Group, Ron Field said: "There were three Guide Dogs with their owners at the fair, which I think really helped as people could see exactly where their money was going."

Wendy French, who helped organise the fair said: "We ran a 'name the puppy' competition, and the winning name was Winnie, after Winkfield Row.

"This year we raised the most amount for charity that we have ever managed to raise which is fantastic, and we'd like to thank everyone who came along to support the fair and who donated."
