ALVIN FINCH has been named as the new Mayor of Bracknell Forest.

Councillor Finch officially took over from Tina McKenzie-Boyle on Wednesday May 23, in a ceremony at the council’s new offices.

He will be the first sitting Mayor at the new offices at Time Square.

Mayor Finch exclaimed his excitement at being named the new Mayor.

He said: “I am proud to represent the residents of Bracknell Forest and look forward to meeting residents over the next year and hearing about how they contribute to the rich and diverse communities in Bracknell Forest.”

Councillor McKenzie-Boyle raised funds for the FireFighters Charity through her year as Mayor, and organised multiple fundraising events including a skydive.

She raised £51,556 for the charity, which was close to her heart due to her father being a fireman all through his career.

Mayor Alvin Finch will fundraise for Mencap.

Mencap is a charity raising awareness for those living with autism.

He has been a councillor on Bracknell Forest Council for 15 years now, representing the Priestwood and Garth ward in that time.

The first responsibility for the new Mayor involved the unveiling of a plaque at the council’s new offices in Time Square. The plaque commemorated the council’s 20 year anniversary of becoming a unitary authority.

The new deputy Mayor is Pauline McKenzie.

Mayor Finch will hold the post for a year, at which time he will be replaced with another member of Bracknell Forest Council.
