CHRISTMAS visitors to the Lexicon donated more than £1,000 for the town centre’s charity of the year. Visitors to The Lexicon, raised £1,475 for Bracknell Gymnastics Club, by donating coins to light up the 30ft charity Christmas tree in Princess Square.

The money raised will go towards helping gymnasts fund their national gymnastics coaching qualifications. The club thanked the public for the donations and pledged to grow the sport within the town and surrounding areas.

Dr Peter Tranckle, club manager at Bracknell Gymnastics Club said: “We are so grateful to visitors to The Lexicon for supporting us. Our aim is to help as many people as possible to have fun, build confidence and raise levels of wellbeing through gymnastics.

“The money raised will enable us to put a number of people through their level one and level two UK certificates in coaching.

“This in turn will enable us to run more classes in the future for local residents.”

The club offers recreational gymnastics, cheerleading, freestyle (parkour), double mini trampoline and TeamGym for people of all ages, levels of fitness and experience.

Bracknell Gymnastics is the country’s highest performing club for TeamGym, counting 12 members of the current British team and three British title holding teams within the club.

TeamGym takes activities from the floor, trampette and the tumbling track, to create a fun team sport.

Sue Boor, head of marketing at The Lexicon, said: “We are delighted to be supporting this local club which mixes recreational sport for all with athletes at the very top of their sport.

“We look forward to unveiling a full programme of awareness and fund raising activities throughout the year.”
