A YOUNG airport fanatic has been nominated for the British Airways work experience student of the year.

Sean Brownlee, who is studying Travel & Tourism at Bracknell & Wokingham College was nominated for a ‘spark! award’ as Work Experience Student of the Year by British Airways.

Whilst he was on duty with the airline, he checked in passengers, handled luggage, labelled the bags, helped board the passengers and hosted flight connections.

Sean, who loved his time at British Airways, said: “It was great - every single day was brilliant. I could not believe that I was nominated for the award. I was absolutely ecstatic and was on an all time high all week.

“I would love to go back there if the opportunity arose as I learnt so much from my time at the airline.

“I had an adrenaline rush throughout it, I knew what I was doing, and I loved it.”

Sean would like to pursue a career in cabin crew or work on the customer service representative desks, as customer service is his favourite unit  from his travel & tourism level 3 course.

He added: “The college has helped me massively with what I want to do, for example Katie is an excellent teacher and she has stretched me to do the distinctions on the Level 2 and Natalie has helped and because  of that it’s really developed me to try to do distinctions on the Level 3.”

His advice to future candidates would be to arrive 15-30 minutes early, notify the company when you’re there, don’t talk too much or too little and involve other people as it shows good team work skills.
