LEAGUE organisers are arranging a charity match after the sudden death of a well-known Sunday footballer.

Richard ‘Ric’ Shaw, pictured, tragically died in his sleep last Friday night, aged 33.

The ‘extremely talented’ player enjoyed spells with a number of local clubs in the Bracknell Town & District Sunday Football League over the past 16 years and was most recently on the books of Golden Farmer Rangers.

His death has stunned the local football community and plans are already in place to stage a charity match at Bracknell Town’s Larges Lane ground on December 8.

BTDSFL committee member Nick Carpenter led the tributes, saying: “It is with much sadness we record the passing of Richard ‘Ric’ Shaw at the age of just 33.

“Ric will be well known to many local footballers having played in the BTDSFL over the past 16 years for Bagshot Road, Inter, Sunningdale & Wentworth and most recently Golden Farmer Rangers.

"He was an extremely talented and combative player and will be sorely missed by his many, many friends in local football.”
