TRAIN disruptions affected commuter across the region yesterday afternoon.

From 3pm to 6.30pm no train ran between Ascot and Reading, meaning commuters are stuck with no way of getting home.

One irate commuter said: "I've been here for an hour and a half, soaked through after being caught in the rain, and it looks like I'll be here a lot longer.

"It's about time we re-nationalised the railways."

South Western Railway aknowledged the incident.

They posted the following online: "Our control room has received reports of a signalling failure between Winnersh and Reading. The failure means that trains need to stop and seek verbal permission to continue at every signal between Winnersh and Reading.

"This process can take up to 10 minutes per signal so this incident will cause significant disruption to services between these stations."

Normal service resumed after 8pm.
