SEVERAL hundred more parking spaces could be built at a supermarket's head quarters as up to 200 employees start work on the site.

Waitrose has sought planning permission to extend a car park at its Oldbury branch by 350 spaces, taking the multi-story to an 804 car capacity.

The request comes as 150 to 200 additional employees look to begin work on the campus.

"There has been pressure on parking at the Campus for some time," the application reads.

"Recently Waitrose undertook a campus wide review of the Partner and visitor parking provision which identified a shortfall.

"Waitrose needs to address this shortfall to ensure that the Campus can continue to operate efficiently.

"In addition Waitrose intend increasing office densities over time in their existing offices on the Bracknell Campus, as approximately 150 to 200 additional Partners will be based on the campus in the near future, so further parking is required to meet the increased demand."

A Waitrose spokesperson would not say why the extra employees were coming to Bracknell, but confirmed planning permission had been sought.

They said: "We can confirm we've made a planning application - we have a large number of Partners working on our campus and are ensuring we have the resources in place to accommodate them all."
