A GROUP of community minded teenagers has breathed life into a 50 year old mural.

On July 19 Hasan Mussan, 15, and a group of fellow National Citizen Service members got out their paint brushes and pots at the Easthampstead and Wildridings Community Centre.

There they repainted and replenished a mural that has adorned the building since 1964.

"The Centre has been wanting the mural to be re-done for a long time," explained Hasan.

"It has been there for a long time and means a lot to them.

"We wanted to re-do it to help them and to preserve the mural for people in the future.

"Members of our group live close to the Centre, and for them it is an important part of the area. I think it shows a bit of community."

The National Citizens Service takes 15 to 17 year-olds on a four week course providing employment skills and volunteering opportunities.

Anil Thapa, deputy assistant programme manager of the Bracknell group, said: "The way they have set this up and the way they have organised it is fantastic.

"For young people their age to go out and make a positive impact is brilliant."
