A GROUP of friends have rallied around a woman with a terminal breast cancer diagnosis to send her on holiday.

In November 2016 Rachel Greenhowe was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer.

Despite the associated tumour growing from 26mm to 42mm within two weeks, an operation a month later was deemed a success.

Mid-way through a course of chemotherapy that began in March however, it was discovered that the cancer had spread to her brain and lungs.

"Now they have told me that I have months rather than years to live," explained the 45 year-old, who lives with her two daughters in Worlds End Hill.

On hearing the news, Ms Greenhowe's friends decided to do something positive.

Lynne Fenner wrote on the Just Giving page she set up: "One thing Rachel looks forward to every year is a holiday whether to Woolacombe in Devon, Camber Sands or Almeria, Spain.

"The most important part of the holidays is to create memories for her and her children.

"With this fund raiser I'm hoping to provide a holiday that can give this wonderful and brave woman another chance to provide magical memories for herself and her beautiful girls."

Competing in the Race for Life with her Wooden Hill colleagues.

Having completed the Race for Life last week with colleagues from Wooden Hill Primary School, Ms Greenhowe is now focusing on the remainder of her chemotherapy before taking daughters Kianna, 13, and Molly-Joe, 16, away.

"I want to get my chemo regime in place but then I would love to take the girls abroad," she continued.

"Kianna wants to go to the Caribbean.

"The news was quite shocking for both of them. Kianna has Asperger’s so she can't really talk about it.

"At the moment I am okay. Because I feel okay I am just going to fight it. I am going to fight everyday.

"I am not accepting that I only have months. I still work at Wooden Hill. I will fight all the way."
