Unemployment is down across the country, though there remains 620 people registered unemployed in the Bracknell area.

Despite the seemingly high figures, The Lexicon development has started to make an impact on unemployment.

The Slough Job Centre has recently filled 14 jobs at the new Marks and Spencer alone.

Dr Phillip Lee MP posted on his facebook page: "Locally, unemployment in the Bracknell constituency remains at a very low 1 per cent, which is welcome news.

"Importantly, The Lexicon development will bring even more employment to the area, including at the new cinema complex, which is now recruiting for dozens of roles.

"Cineworld will be holding a recruitment day for prospective employees this Saturday 15, at The Grange Hotel, in Princess Square, between 10am and 5pm.

"Nationally, the overall employment level is at 32.01 million people, a new record high, nearly 3 million more than in 2010.

"There are now almost 3.5 million disabled people in employment. In the last three years, the number of disabled people in work has increased by 537,000."

Shakeen Akhtar, of Slough Job Centre, said their current aim is to get as many older people back into work as possible.

She said: "For the next few months we will be focusing on people aged 50 or over, and those with learning difficulties."
