A POLICE officer from Crowthorne will join an Olympic gold medallist in a charity desert trek.

Jessica Wheeler will join a party of forty others who are walking across the Oman desert over the course of a week in November this year.

In her team are 2012 Olympic long jump winner Greg Rutherford and British author, actress and vlogger Giovanna Fletcher.

The Crowthorne resident, who serves as a Metropolitan Police officer, is taking on the imposing challenge to raise awareness for breast cancer charity CoppaFeel!

The 23 year-old explained: "CoppaFeel! is a great non-profit charity which was started in 2009 when the founder Kris, at age 23, was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer.

"The medical team initially told her she was too young to have breast cancer.

"I am very pleased to say that this wonderful lady is still around and she has now made it her mission to make all young people aware of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and get us all boob aware."

CoppaFeel! work to educate women to recognise the signs of breast cancer and to encourage the female population to go to the doctors if they believe they are at risk.

She continued: "I am by no means super fit and so this is going to require a load of training on my behalf and with I am sure, some very sore body parts along the way.

"However, this is nothing in comparison to the long and challenging journey our friends with breast cancer undertake each and every day."
