STUDENTS got their political juices flowing by taking part in a debate on the upcoming election.

Bracknell & Wokingham College students gathered to attend a live debate held at the college to discuss next month’s election, with candidates from four parties in attendance.

The candidates fielded questions from the students and discussed their policies in what was the first election special show to be broadcast in the constituency live on BBC Berkshire.

Bracknell News:

Ben Hankin, a Government and Politics student said: “I think the debate was a good idea. Between the candidates in Bracknell, I like Phillip Lee, he is a good MP, and he has been very good with the College. Although I was quite impressed with the Labour candidate, he was very honest.”

The debate was aired on the BBC Radio Berkshire Breakfast Show with Andrew Peach and students from across the college’s courses invited to take part, with A Level Government and Politics students particularly interested.

Niamh Farrell, a Government and Politics student, added: “For me personally it was nice to meet my local candidates and you see stuff on the news about the leaders of the party and what’s happening broadly.

“I’ve only met Dr Phillip Lee before, I hadn’t met the other candidates so it was nice to get the chance to see them in person.”
