DRIVERS will face further traffic misery with as regeneration roadworks continue.

The final phase of road improvements around the regenerated Bracknell town centre will start this month and will see the closure of a number of roads.

The work, which has seen major work on traffic gateways into the town centre ahead of The Lexicon's opening in September, will enter the re-surfacing phase from mid-May.

Andrew Hunter, chief officer for planning transport and countryside, said: "The resurfacing taking place in May and June is the final piece of the extensive improvement work.

"With a newly regenerated town centre comes a significant increase in traffic, therefore we have planned all the improvement work well in advance of The Lexicon's opening, and this will enable us to better manage the expected increase."

This phase of road improvements includes resurfacing Station Roundabout which will require five overnight closures.

The junction and all its approaches will be closed between 8am and 6pm on May 15-18, and from 10.30pm on Friday, May 19, re-opening at 6am on Saturday, May 20.

Resurfacing of Western Roundabout and Millennium Way will also take place between May 30 and June 10 with road closures Monday to Friday between 8pm and 6am.

There will be a phased closure of Millennium Way and Western Roundabout (and all its approaches) during this time.

The work forms the final phase of the council's programme to upgrade the main approaches to Bracknell town centre ahead of The Lexicon's opening on September 7.

The work has included improvements to High Street, Weather Way, Bond Way, Millennium Way, Station Roundabout/ Market Street and The Ring.

All construction work is due to be completed by late June.
