A MOTHER whose daughter was left wheelchair bound after being struck twice with swine flu is now giving something back to the charity who helped them by running a monthly craft market.

Michelle Errington from Bracknell took on organising the Pudding Cup Art Market in order to raise money for Whizz Kids, the charity that stepped forward to help her daughter Charlotte when she became ill aged just 15.

Now 22, Charlotte has been diagnosed with Reynauds and myalgic encephalomyelitis, otherwise known as chronic fatigue syndrome, and is dependent on a wheelchair provided by Whizz Kids after being let down by the cash-strapped NHS.

Mum Michelle credits the charity with enabling her daughter to go to college and start living her life again.

She said: "Whizz kids came through for us. They are amazing, I'm so grateful to them because they enabled her to go to college, she made friends and they enabled her to start living.

"She wasn't in a good place but they came through and sorted it out so quickly."

Michelle took over running the craft market earlier this year and raises money through games and events held on the day while the owners of the craft stalls sell their goods.

She hopes to raise more than £1,000 for the charity, which also runs a youth club in Wokingham, and says bookings are already coming through for March to December next year.

Charlotte, who has two younger sisters, is now studying fine art from home with the University for the Creative Arts, and Michelle says she is incredibly proud of all of them.

"I'm so proud of them all and I wanted to pay something forward, I didn't want to just take it and think 'oh that was nice', I wanted to give something myself.

"It's a scandal that children have to depend on charity for a wheelchair, and they are stretched enough as it is which is why we are so grateful that they helped us."

The next craft market will be held at Clewer Youth and Community Centre, Parsonage Lane, Windsor on December 11 from 12pm to 4pm.
