A temporary lane closure will be in place in the centre of Bracknell while an essential £60,000 scheme is carried out by South East Water this month.

The water company will be laying 270 metres of new water main along Skimped Hill Lane in the town from Monday October 17 to improve the capacity of the underground water network as the community grows.

As part of the £60,000 scheme, the new water pipe will be laid from the eastern end of Honeywell Roundabout and will continue north along Skimped Hill Lane.

South East Water’s workforce will then cross Western Roundabout before laying a short section of pipe along the B3408.

Stephen Bundock, Project Manager at South East Water, said: "The safety of motorists and our workforce is our top priority when carrying out work which is why we will need to have temporary lane closure in operation along Skimped Hill Lane while we complete this work.

"We will also need to have temporary traffic lights in operation when we work on Honeywell Roundabout.

"We appreciate roadworks can be frustrating which is why we have been working closely with the highways department at Bracknell Forest Council and will have one lane in Skimped Hill Lane closed to keep traffic flowing through the town centre and keep disruption to a minimum."

He added: "We expect this work to take approximately 11 weeks to complete but our contractor will be working as safely and quickly as possible to complete this work as soon as possible.

"I would like to apologise for the disruption this work will cause but hope motorists and the local community understand the long term benefits this scheme will deliver."

The scheme forms part of the company’s £424 million investment programme taking place between 2015 and 2020.
