ROADS flooded and homes were struck by lightning last night as half a month's rain fell in just a few hours.
Bracknell's Indian summer came to an abrupt end on Thursday evening as fierce storms tore across the area.
Bracknell's firefighters were inundated with more than 20 calls throughout the night.
Watch manager Bem Henshaw said: "We've been everywhere dealing with problems caused by the storm from cars stuck in flooded roads to two houses struck by lightning, alarms going off."
Two neighbouring properties in Jennett's Park suffered severe damage after lightning struck and started a huge fire causing the roof of each house to collapse.
Firecrews are still at the scene.
Sandy Lane Primary School has shut its doors for the day after water flooded the building and left it at risk of electrical faults.
The school needs to wait for a full health and safety assessment before it can reopen.
