A MAN involved in a four-car pile up in Mill Lane yesterday is now trying to track down the kind strangers who jumped in to help and stayed by his side the entire time.
Scott Rodgers, from Great Hollands, was taken to hospital with severe neck and back injuries following a collision on the dual-carriageway yesterday afternoon (Aug 31) after a car careered onto the wrong side of the road.
The 40-year-old says he would have "panicked a lot more" had it not been for the support of Mary, a Tesco worker trained in first aid, who sat in the car with him as firefighters cut through the door and roof to get him out.
Scott said: "She came straight over out of her car and she took control of the situation, she held my neck and supported my head for the whole time.
"She just talked me through it and chatted to me about different things and she just made everything more calm and stopped people panicking."

Scott was driving towards Twin Bridges Roundabout when the collision happened and fears it could have been so much worse.
He has taken to social media to try and track down Mary and three men, named Ian Jason and Russell, who helped him and his Facebook post has now been shared more than 700 times.
He said: "I appreciate that they took time out of their lives to help me, the first aider Mary was on her way home from a shift on her way to KFC and she stayed the whole time.
"I just want to say thank you and to let them know they helped, buy the lady a bunch of flowers."
Wildridings Roundabout was closed during rush hour yesterday after police and fire rushed to the scene just before 5pm.
