BIG ears and dream catchers were the order of the day in Bracknell town centre last weekend as the third summer of fun Roald Dahl-inspired event kicked off.

Hundreds of children enjoyed a day of crafts and story-telling events on Saturday as The BFG came to Princess Square shopping centre.

There were story telling sessions with The Queen and The BFG lookalikes plus plenty of free craft fun as children could make dream catchers, dream bottles and their very own BFG ears.

Gemma Tizzard, marketing executive for Bracknell Regeneration Partnership who organise the events, said: "Saturday saw another busy day of events and it was great to see everyone enjoying themselves and wearing their BFG ears around the town centre. This Saturday we have even more fun based on The Twits, including a visit from The Twits lookalikes and making Mr Twit beards. We will also have an enormous picture upstairs in Princess Square to colour in, so we look forward to seeing lots of people come along and help with that."

Previous events were inspired by Fantastic Mr Fox and James and the Giant Peach, with three more Saturdays of fun planned based on The Twits, Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The events take place every Saturday until August 27.

A short story competition is also open for kids aged five to 16 with a top prize of a £100 Waterstones gift card. The closing date is Friday, August 19.
