THE vote to leave the European Union has created a lot of business uncertainty, according to Bracknell's MP.

Dr Phillip Lee MP, who himself voted to remain in the EU, spoke to businesses based in the borough about their fears and reaction following the result of the referendum on June 23.  Exchange rates, contracts and problems with overseas staff and uncertainty over their future status have all led to concerns in the business world.

Dr Lee said: “It is clear from my discussions that the Brexit vote on 23rd June has created a lot of uncertainty, both here and in the markets across the world. Virtually every company I have spoken with has been impacted at some level, either of from a drop in the exchange rate, contracts put on hold, or problems with overseas staff due to concerns over their future status.

“This last aspect is of particular importance as many companies rely on being able to bring in the best and brightest staff from their other European offices to work in this country."

Bracknell is home to the headquarters of around 30 companies and the decision will effect many of their employees living in the area.

Dr Lee added he will pass on the thoughts of the companies to government and said: "The companies have suggested a number of innovative and practical suggestions as to how the British government can help to mitigate these impacts and I will be putting these before the newly appointed ministers handling our negotiations over the course of the next few weeks."
