WORK to tear down the iconic water flumes wrapped around Coral Reef Waterworld began today as part of the £13.3m refurbishment of the centre.

One of Bracknell's most-loved attractions, the water park will be closed until summer 2017 while work to transform the roof, flumes and interior of the site takes place.

The major upgrade will see five new flume rides installed within a new flume tower and a replacement roof over the main pool hall, has now been formally sealed by Bracknell Forest Council, main building contractor Brymor and aquatics contractor Van Egdom.

The plans will also see repair work to other areas of the roofing at the complex, enhanced changing facilities, an improved reception area, café, Sauna World, and Lazy River area and toilets.

Prepartory work is well underway at the attraction, with photos released by Bracknell Forest Council showing the now-empty pools and floors.
