IT'S full steam ahead with the multi-million pound refurbishment of Coral Reef Waterworld in Bracknell, with work now under way.

The £13.3m project, which will see five new flume rides installed within a new flume tower and a replacement roof over the main pool hall, has now been formally sealed by Bracknell Forest Council, main building contractor Brymor and aquatics contractor Van Egdom.

The plans will also see repair work to other areas of the roofing at the complex, enhanced changing facilities, an improved reception area, café, Sauna World, and Lazy River area and toilets.

Cllr Iain McCracken, executive member for culture, public protection and corporate services, said: “We are very pleased to have Brymor and Van Egdom on board for this landmark project and we look forward to working with them further over the coming months.

“Coral Reef Waterworld has a superb reputation and we needed to ensure the process of appointing the contractors was strenuous to ensure those we did appoint were of a very high quality.

“I am tremendously pleased that work has begun and we will be able to see the new, exciting Coral Reef Waterworld go from being a design to a reality.”

Brymor was formally agreed as the main contractor for the project at a full council meeting on Wednesday, May 18, while Van Egdom was appointed last year.

The project is expected to take around 14 months to complete.

Mark Dyer, managing director of Brymor, said: "Brymor is delighted to be working as the main construction partner for this project.

"We are very much aware of the esteem in which Coral Reef Waterworld is held and it gives us great pleasure to be able to do our part in ensuring its reputation as a superb attraction is enhanced when it reopens.

"We have already completed preparatory work on the site and we are delighted to be involved with this hugely exciting project."

Pedro Klomp, Van Egdom managing director, said: “We have been working closely with Bracknell Forest Council on our designs for this fantastic project and we are very excited with what we have planned for Coral Reef Waterworld.

“We are sure what we are creating will make a visit to this attraction even more special and retain its well-earned and well-deserved place at the top of the list for days out.”
