A BRACKNELL nursery has become the first in the country to receive two top awards in the same month, and has been congratulated by the area’s MP for their efforts.

The Teepee Day Nursery has been recognised for their top menus by the Children’s Food Trust who have dubbed their offering as ‘outstanding’.

It has also been granted a coveted gold in the ‘Investors in People’ awards, the first nursery to nab both awards in the same month in the UK and one of only seven per cent of organisations to be given gold.

Emma Tennant, nursery owner, said: “Receiving these awards has been a fantastic way to start the year. We constantly strive to offer outstanding care and education for both the children and our colleagues and achieving these awards is proof of this.

“Achieving the food award is amazing; it is a real testament to all of the planning and effort that goes into preparing and serving meals at the nursery.

“As a mother myself, I understand the importance of good nutrition in children’s growth and development, and now our customers have the additional reassurance that our menus meet these strict criteria that is backed by the government. To be one of only a handful of nurseries in the country is even more exciting.”

Dr Phillip Lee, MP for Bracknell, celebrated with staff and pupils during a visit to the nursery on May 20.

Nursery manager Nicole Odell said: “Not many companies achieve the gold standard. Such an amazing award is usually associated with much larger companies but that’s what makes us different.

“I feel so very proud to be a part of such great nurseries and surrounded by an amazing group of people that I am proud to call my colleagues.”
