A 60-year-old woman was rushed to hospital after a serious collision in Warfield.

Firefighters had to cut the woman from her car after her leg was pinned during the crash.

All three emergency services were called to the scene after three vehicles collided on Maidenhead Road in Newell Green at 6.10pm on Wednesday, March 23.

Firefighter Steve Blackman from Bracknell fire station said an off duty crew manager had seen the crash and called the emergency services.

He said: "The crew manager called it in and gave the trapped woman first aid. She was trapped quite badly by her legs.

"The air ambulance came down and it took about two hours to get her out, it was quite a complicated extraction.

"We made sure no one else was in the other cars."

Police say the trapped woman was airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford with a broken leg.

Police constable Anthony Gibson, from the joint operations unit for roads policing, said: "This incident happened at a busy time of day when a lot of people will have been driving home from work.

"I would urge anyone that may have witnessed the collision or who has any information that might assist our investigation to contact me via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101."

David Gallagher, a spokesman for the South Central Ambulance Service confirmed a call came in to the service at 6.11pm.

He said: "There was one female driver trapped in her vehicle with serious leg injuries and three further patients were treated for minor injuries and shock at the scene but discharged."
