A SEVERE weather warning has been issued for Easter Monday, warning of 60mph winds.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for Bracknell and Wokingham as storm Katie is set to batter the towns.

They warn strong gusts could topple trees and interrupt power supplies in the borough.

The warning is in effect from just after 1am on Monday, March 28, until 2pm. It warns travel plans and outdoor activities could be impacted by the gale.

A chief forecaster for the Met office said: "An area of low pressure is expected to rapidly deepen to the southwest of the UK later on Sunday and then run northeastwards across England and Wales on Monday accompanied by some very strong winds, large coastal waves and heavy rain.

"There remains a fair amount of uncertainty over the track and timing of this system and so where and when the peaks of strongest winds will occur.

"However, there is a continuing signal for a period of disruptive winds, perhaps now more focussed towards southeastern parts of England."
