MORE than 120 primary school pupils enjoyed the annual Kick Start Festival of dance at Garth Hill College in Bracknell.

Now in its 10th year, the half-day event sees schools from Bracknell Forest perform dance routines in front of an audience of other teams as well as a panel of judges.

Matthew Gamble, development manager for the school sport partnership, said: "The primary school children started work last September on their dance routines and have been practising hard for the showcase performance.

"The dances have been fantastic. Having learned their routines, they have been teaching other pupils at their schools the steps and combinations as well.

"Their leadership has been really strong and they are helping others to get moving while having fun themselves and building confidence."

The competitors also enjoyed performances by the pupils of Garth Hill and Ranelagh secondary schools.

The competition was won by the team from The Pines, with Meadow Vale's a team and Wildridings making up the top three.

Keith Grainger, principal of Garth Hill College, said: "It was our pleasure to welcome the dancers to Garth Hill College.

"We are very lucky to have such a wonderful auditorium for pupils to perform in, as they did so well on this occasion.

"We are very pleased to see it being used by the wider Garth Hill community."

Children from nine schools competing in 13 teams took the stage on Tuesday, January 26.
