A BRACKNELL man who stole from a "frail and elderly" victim has been jailed for more than three years.

Richard Bacon, 41, formerly known as John McGlynn, of Wordsworth, Great Hollands, Bracknell, was sentenced to three and a half years in prison at Reading Crown Court on Monday, after admitting two counts of burglary of homes and theft.

The court heard at around 8.45pm on October 28, Bacon, snuck his way into a home in Great Hollands through an open door and demanded money from the homeowner, before stealing a purse and leaving.

On December 17, in the early hours of the morning, Bacon, broke into a home in Birch Hill through an unsecured window, stealing a handbag from a frail and elderly victim.

He was then identified from CCTV footage and later arrested and charged on the same day.

Investigating officer Det Con Doug Crowe from the local CID based at Bracknell, said: "Bacon had no regard for his victims and targeted the elderly and vulnerable.

"The residents of Bracknell are safer with him off the streets and I hope his sentence goes some way to helping the victims and their families come to terms with what happened."
